Digipaks are the most popular premium packaging option for CD and DVD. Sturdy cardboard protects the disc inside, but it still weighs less than a jewel case, and the layout of a digipak provides more area for design and information. Most of all, the package is sleek and very cool! Minimum quantities apply.

A 'package' comprises disc, paper parts (cover and literature) and case.
An Amaray® Case is a DVD-safe case, featuring a clear sleeve for the cover insert, a clip to hold literature inside on the left, and the DVD tray. This is by far the most common method of packaging DVDs.
Premium DVD digipak or digipaks (aka digipack or digipacks) are increasing in popularity. They can come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Digipacks can be used to handle a number of discs from one to many, and will have a number of digi trays to hold the dvds securely.
Typical digipack sizing is 4 panel - with 3 or 4 printed panels, and 6 panel with 1, 2 or 3 discs held in the clear or black trays. Usually digipacks are laminated (either 'matt' or 'gloss' ) to protect the printed surfaces.

Amaray is light, shatterproof, can be mailed without extra packaging, has space for printed material and is available in a number of colours (and clear). It holds the DVD clear of the case, preventing damage to the playing surface, whilst using a locking mechanism which 'pops' the disc out of the holder for use.
A quick guide to CD and DVD printed paper parts
The cover insert is usually printed on one side only (since most cases are not transparent). This printing may be in mono, 4 or 5 five colour. Both sides may be printed if clear DVD cases are used.
The literature clips into the left inside cover. It can be anything from 2 panel (one sheet printed both sides) to (typically up to ...) 8 panel.
Most DVDs just have a cover insert (fig 2) only. This may be accompanied by literature in various configurations, with folded or folded/stapled booklets.
